Why homeowners call us back
We answer the phone at 3am
Not an answering service, not a callback queue. In a Winnipeg cold snap a dead furnace becomes frozen pipes in about six hours, and that is a very different bill.
Flat rate, quoted before we touch anything
You approve a number before work starts. No hourly meter running while a tech looks for a part, and no invoice that surprises you at the door.
Licensed, insured, WCB covered
Manitoba journeyman gas fitters. Gas work by anyone unlicensed can void your home insurance — ask any contractor for their licence number before they start.
Thirty-one years, same family
Dave started this in 1994 out of a single van. We still service houses we put furnaces in during the nineties.
Efficiency Manitoba rebates — we do the paperwork
Manitoba homeowners can claim meaningful rebates on high-efficiency heating equipment, and most people never claim them because the forms are a nuisance. We complete and submit them on your behalf as part of the install.
- High-efficiency furnace and boiler rebates
- Cold-climate heat pump incentives
- Financing available — payments spread over the equipment's life
What Winnipeg says
Furnace quit on the coldest night of the year and it was −41 with the wind. Called at 11pm, tech was here by 12:40am with the right part on the truck. He explained what failed and why. I've told half my street about them.
Got three quotes on a furnace replacement. Red River was the only one who actually did a heat-loss calc instead of eyeballing it, and they came in mid-price. They also filed the Efficiency Manitoba rebate paperwork for me.
Our windows had been dripping all winter and two other companies told us to buy a dehumidifier. These guys cleaned the HRV core, rebalanced it, and the problem was just gone. $189 instead of a new appliance.

Straight answers
How fast can you actually get here on a no-heat call?
Under two hours in our service area during the winter, and usually a lot less. Maintenance plan members get dispatched first. If we can't reach you quickly we tell you that on the phone rather than letting you wait.
What does an emergency call cost?
The diagnostic is $129 and it's waived if you go ahead with the repair. There's no separate after-hours surcharge between November and March — a furnace failing at 2am on a Sunday is exactly the job we're set up for.
Should I repair my furnace or replace it?
Rough rule: if the unit is over 15 years old and the repair is more than half the cost of replacing it, replace it. We'll tell you honestly which side of that line you're on, including when the answer is a $200 repair that buys you three more winters.
Do you service my area?
We cover South Winnipeg, St. Boniface, and out to Niverville and Île-des-Chênes. Call and ask if you're outside that list — we often can.
My windows sweat all winter. Is that a furnace problem?
Almost always it's the HRV, not the furnace. Winnipeg homes are sealed tight and the heat recovery ventilator is what moves the moisture out. If its core is clogged, condensation is the first symptom. It's a $189 service call, not a renovation.
